  • This is a project developed by VG Mobility as a concession holder of fleet and infrastructure provision for TRANSMILENIO S.A., built by the Colombian companies Celsia, a Grupo Argos energy company, and PC Mejía, which implement infrastructure projects to promote electric mobility in the country with national talent and innovation.
  • To accelerate the electrification of mass public transportation in Colombia, Celsia and PC Mejía offer charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, which is a fundamental link in the chain to achieve the energy transition in urban mobility.
  • Colombian engineers and technicians were involved in designing and executing the Patio Perdomo project. This yard will be able to charge 183 Transmilenio system feeder buses simultaneously, which ensures the fleet’s continuous availability to cover the requirements of public transportation routes for different sectors of the city.

5 october, 2022. The most modern electric vehicle charging yard in the country, Patio Perdomo, was designed and implemented by two Colombian companies: Celsia and PC Mejía, which joined forces to continue promoting the electrification of urban mass mobility in the country.

Patio Perdomo, located in Ciudad Bolivar, is the country’s most modern charging infrastructure for the Transmilenio system’s electric buses. It has a capacity of 8.6 MW and an area of over 33,000 square meters, where 183 electric buses can be charged at the same time with 21 chargers (360 kW each) and 93 dispensers located on-site.

It also has a vehicle inspection area, administrative and industrial buildings and, as a great development, it is the first yard in the country in which the charging elements are located on elevated metal structures. This optimizes the use of space and allows buses to move safely on site without the need to reverse or make dangerous turns. In addition, this infrastructure has 5 transformers that provide back-up energy to the operation.

With all this technology, first of its kind in the country, each bus can be charged in 1.5 to 5 hours, depending on the needs of the operation, to cover more than 260 kilometers.

“Patio Perdomo is one of our flagship projects because it reflects what we want to provide to cities and companies in comprehensive electric mobility solutions. We configured, acquired and financed the 195 buses, and invested, designed, built and commissioned the civil and electrical infrastructure required by the district public operator ‘La Rolita,’ to prepare, maintain and charge its fleet in the yard for 15 years and, in this way, be able to provide an excellent transportation service,» says Andrés Jaramillo, CEO of VG Mobility.

Ricardo Sierra, Celsia’s CEO states that “the company is promoting more sustainable mobility in Colombia, and today we are very pleased to be VG Mobility’s strategic partner in this project. Our focus is on generating infrastructure that strengthens and consolidates an electric mobility ecosystem. We have already ventured into fast charging stations for vehicles and, today, along with VG Mobility, we are delivering Bogotá a yard with state-of-the-art technology that will allow more people from Bogotá to use mass transportation.”

On his part, Santiago Mejía, Commercial Manager of PC Mejía, affirms that “electric mobility is the current development, and at PC Mejía we are very proud to have contributed with our experience in engineering, procurement and the construction of electric infrastructure in this important project for VG Mobility and the city of Bogotá. We are ready to continue working with our partners to develop electric mobility in the region.”
