- Buenaventura, Jamundí, Florida, and Candelaria are among the municipalities that are receiving these benefits.
- The department’s energy efficiency plan investments have benefited more than 1,500 customers.
Valle del Cauca, July 10. Yina Marcela Duque is one of the leaders of the Community Action Board of the Villa Pyme neighborhood in the municipality of Jamundí and is one of the 410 new customers of Celsia in the Valley that have legal and safe energy in 2023. «We have made a lot of progress in recent months. It is very nice to see all this because we are doing very well. The idea is to have all the services in the neighborhood. Before we had some bamboo poles that would fall,» says the social leader.
In addition to Jamundí, Celsia also extended these activities, which help improve the provision of energy service with quality and reliability, to other municipalities of the Valley such as Buenaventura, Florida, Candelaria, Palmira, Alcalá, Sevilla, La Unión, Dagua and Restrepo. With the nearly $87 billion that have been invested in these works, customers no longer have technically deficient connections that put their lives, heritage and their community at risk. This is why Celsia continues to work on a service efficiency plan that also includes:
- Modernization of energy networks:
This year, 31 network remodeling works are being carried out, as, over time they needed to be changed to more durable, modern and safe ones. These works also included the installation of new poles and transformers, which are essential to reducing possible electrical failures caused by overloads or degradation of the system’s equipment. Some of the municipalities benefiting from the works are: Bugalagrande, Alcalá, Buenaventura, Dagua, Candelaria, Ginebra, Jamundí, La Unión, Palmira, Vijes and Zarzal.
Investment: $1.334 billion.
- Installation of smart meters (Advanced Infrastructure Measurement – AMI):
So far this year, Celsia has installed these new meters for 384 customers in the municipalities of Zarzal, Buga and Candelaria, and upgraded 260 in Buenaventura. This new technological solution allows customers to have real-time information on their consumption, and are also prepared to receive other services and benefits that come in the future with the energy transition.
Investment: $855 million.
All these works are accompanied by the social management team, which is responsible for informing and sharing the details and benefits of the work with stakeholders such as municipal administrations, leaders of the sectors involved and the community in general.
For his part, Eduardo Andrés Burbano, head of the Valle Service Energy Efficiency Project, said, «Progress is being made on the efficiency plan, on investments in networks. We are changing conventional meters for smart meters and guaranteeing the improvement of the quality of the energy service throughout the department, among other actions.»
