Celsia Has Invested More Than $6.11 Billion in Connection Standardization, Network Modernization and New Meters in Tolima

Ibagué, July 10 Yuly Arenas is the auditor of the Community Action Board of the Gaitán settlement in the municipality of Rioblanco and is one of the 1,875 new customers of Celsia in Tolima that have legal and safe energy in 2023. «The improvement of the network in our hamlet has been very good, our network was in very poor condition; so far the works are in very good condition,» says the social leader.

In addition to Rioblanco, Celsia also extended these activities, which help improve the provision of energy service with quality and reliability, to other municipalities of Tolima such as Carmen de Apicalá, Chaparral, Ataco, Icononzo, Espinal, Líbano e Ibagué. With the nearly $3 billion that have been invested in these works, customers no longer have technically deficient connections that put their lives, heritage and their community at risk. This is why Celsia continues to work on a service efficiency plan that also includes:

  • Modernization of energy networks:

This year, 19 network remodeling works have been carried out, as, over time they needed to be changed to more durable and modern ones with the technical conditions required for them. These works also included the installation of new poles and transformers, which are essential to reducing possible electrical failures caused by overloads or degradation of the system’s equipment. Some of the municipalities benefiting from the works are Guamo, Melgar, Mariquita, Líbano, Armero Guayabal and Ortega, among others.

Investment: $2.283 billion.

  • Installation of meters Advanced Infrastructure Measurement (abbreviated AMI in Spanish):

 So far this year, Celsia has installed these new meters for 688 customers in the municipalities of Armero Guayabal, Lebanon, Guamo, El Espinal, Melgar and Ibagué.

This new technological solution allows customers to have real-time information on their consumption, and are also prepared to receive other services and benefits that come in the future With the energy transition.

Investment: $827 million.

All these works are accompanied by the social management team, which is responsible for informing and sharing the details and benefits of the work with stakeholders such as municipal administrations, leaders of the sectors involved and the community in general.

For his part, Yonnathan Betancourt, Head of the Service Energy Efficiency Project in Tolima, said, «These activities are allowing us to improve service quality and above all to raise awareness among our customers that being connected to the energy service legally and without making irregular connections to our networks is a decision that brings multiple benefits. My special invitation to the people of Tolima is to always connect to the good, because our best energy is legal.»
